..."Joshua and Twitch do their routine next. It is a Russian routine that is choreographed by Youri Nelzine. WOW, it is absolutely fabulous! I cannot even begin to describe how much I love it. Not only is the choreography spectacular, but the humor and story behind the dance just sell it.

Mandy thinks the dance was insane ad teases Twitch about the doing all the floor work, causing him and Joshua to play fight.

Mary is glad there are two hip hop dancers in the finale--and thinks this is one of the best routines she has seen in the show's history. She gets up and screams in delight.

Nigel is glad Youri brought Russian dance to the show and says they will always remember them for this routine"...

Subject: Ukrainian Dance represented as Russian on "So You Think You Can Dance"

Dear Mikhail,
I am sure by now that your studio has been contacted many times about this issue, but I am writing you in regard to the Ukrainian Dance (and costume) that was misrepresented by one of your choreographers as Russian on the show "So You Think You Can Dance".

On your website page http://www.barynya.com/RussianDance/choreographer.htm, it states that "Russian choreographer Youri Nelzine from Los Angeles, California is specializing in Russian dance art. And that on the final episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance' Youri Nelzine choreographed 'Trepak' from 'The Nutcracker', music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky." - but chose to represent both the dance and the costume as Russian.

While I was really excited to see Slavic dancing on this program, I was very disappointed to see Ukrainian Dance misrepresented as Russian. One wouldn't call Scottish Dancing - Irish, the Viennese Waltz -German, or a Spanish Tango- Italian. Had another choreographer done that, he would have been shot down by the other judges. Thus I am very puzzled as to why a Ukrainian Dance would be called Russian? And the costume as well?

One would think that a choreographer that "specializes in Russian dance" would clearly know the difference between Russian and Ukrainian dance and costume!

I see that your choregrapher has no links on your dance group's page that he may be contacted directly, thus, I am hoping that you might pass on this email, so he can respond directly.
