Russian dancer Natalia Ejova is a professional dancer in New York City and a former Rhythmic Gymnast from Russia. She has performed with the "Imperial Russian Ballet" under Maya Plisetskaya and has studied with and been features by Mark Haim, Matt Mattox and Nina Buissan. Besides dancing for Russian folk dance and music ensemble Barynya, she is a featured soloist with the ensemble "Fantasia" and also works in "Aerial Acrobatics" in New York. During concerts with ensemble Barynya Natalia Ejova is performing Russian folk dance Barynya, Russian folk dance Kalinka, Gypsy traditional dance Two Guitars, Ukrainian dance Hopak, Cossack dance and dance of the Russian Sailors.

Ensemble Barynya was touring the state of OHIO as part of the Ohio Arts Council’s Summer International Music and Performing Arts in Communities Tour (IMPACT). Barynya performed many shows, Russian & Ukrainian dance workshops from July 17 to July 28, 2007. Performance locations included Lakeside, Warren, Marietta, Jackson and Grandview Heights. All performances were free and open to the public.

RUSSIAN DANCE

First official record of Russian dancing is related to year 907 when Great Russian Prince Oleg (Vechshiy Oleg) celebrated his victory over Greeks in Kiev. During the Gala Dinner 16 male dancers dressed as bears and four bears dressed as Russian dancers performed for the guests. After the dinner was over Great Prince commanded to release the bears into the wild and to execute all the dancers.
