Russian dance song music balalaika concert in Nett Lake, Minnessota
Russian dance, song, and music ensemble Barynya performed a concert on Tuesday, February 05, 2013 at the Nett Lake Elementary School, 13090 Westley Drive, Nett Lake, MN 55772.
Musical director of the group Elina Karokhina performed a few solos on Russian folk instrument balalaika. Artistic Director and founder of the group Mikhail Smirnov played guitar, garmoshka), and provided explanation of the program in English. He spoke briefly about costumes, folk instruments, Russian traditions, and explained difference between Russian and English alphabet, performed Russian tongue-twisters.
The program included Russian folk dances "Barynya", "Metelitsa", and "Kalinka", Ukrainian song and dance "Pidmanula", Russian dance from "Swan Lake" ballet, interactive numbers including lesson of Russian folk dance for all students.
Ensemble Barynya is available for hire for the Performing Art Centers, festivals, schools, libraries, concert halls, restaurants, private and corporate events as one powerful ensemble or in smaller groups and combinations.
