NIKOLAI MASSENKOFF BIO
At the age of three Nikolai was put in the St. Tichon Orphanage in Shanghai, China, established by St. Archbishop John (Maksimovich) of Shanghai,
later of San Francisco. At the age of twelve Nikolai arrived in San Francisco, California, after staying two years on Phillipine Islands with other "white russian" immigrants.
Following his education, Nikolai completed education studies and received a teaching credential, served in the US Arm reserves and went to Moscow's Tchaikovsky Competition, the Fourth International Competition. Nikolai was invited to study with the Italian Opera Star, Tito Gobbi, in Florence Italy...also studied with George London in Austria and with Alexander Kipnis in Westport Connecticut..
In 1975, Nikolai founded the MASSENKOFF RUSSIAN FOLK FESTIVAL, a festival of russian music song and dance because of love for his Russian heritage.
He has performed more than two decades both nationally and internationally to great acclaim.
These performances included: Carnegie Hall; Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea before a live
audience of 90,000 people; over 100 performances at the International Division of
Epcot Center’s World Stage in Florida; with major symphony orchestras -- San Francisco,
Baltimore, Edmonton, Honolulu, Palm Beach, Flagstaff, London, Edmonton and in 2005 will
appear with the Cincinnati Symphony; major performing arts centers; national and international television,
including Sudwestfunk (Baden, Baden, Germany) and the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

At Stanford University Stadium for the Shriner’s East-West Football Pageant,
Nikolai performed with over 600 musicians and dancers and rode into the stadium on a black stallion.
Hundreds of white doves were released into the air as well as thousands of balloons, while the audience cheered.
He has appeared on stage with Jerry Lewis, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles,
Liberace, Dinah Shore, Bob Hope, Julio Iglesias, Glen Campbell and Brooke Shields.
He has performed in 35 states and seven countries.
