Russian folk singer Natalia Smirnov (Demidova) is a native of Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Moscow State University of Culture and Arts. She is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.

As a student Natalia Demidova was performing with semi-professional Russian music group "SLAVICHI" (Director Gennady Rudnev). After completion of formal education she performed as solo singer with professional ensemble "Bylina", Russian folk Theatre "Matanya", Moscow State Musical Folklore Theatre "Russkaya Pesnya".
In the begining of 1992 saxophone virtuoso Igor Butman helped to choose name for Natalia and Mikhail Smirnov who then started to perform as a duet in Russian Restaurant "Fyodoroff", Long Island, New York.
Rusian folk duo "Misha and Natasha from Russia" was born.
